Funny enough, the only contact I’ve ever made with other cars on the racetrack was playing with Spec Miatas. For a couple of years we ran an unsanctioned, informal (qualifying was the order in which you got the grid, no sticky tires allowed so only street rubber along the lines of Azenis 615 ) Spec Miata race series during the winter. There was a S7 and my integra that also played as the only non-miatas in the group. It was tremendous fun. Kissing happened, and I once left a red streak down the fender of a white miata to close the door on a rookie before he attempted a pass he didn’t have the skill to pull of yet without putting one or both of us into the wall.

That’s great.

There was a crazy statistic about the Global MX-5 Cup races having a combined total margin of victory if under 1 second for the entire season. Basically every single race was a photo finish.

Ditto - But I don’t find it so fun as any opening into a turn when you take the normal FWD line is taken as an invitation to be dive bombed. It was kind of my motivation for getting out of ITS in order to be out of the pointy end of the Miata scrum.....

Interestingly, I’ve never had any issues with the miatas the run in the IT classes. Some of my greatest battles have been with a particular former SM driver who now plays in ITA. For us, the SM guys are a dedicated run group so I never have to engage in their shenanigans . There are a few miatas that run in ITS or ITA, but they’re folks playing with us specifically because they don’t like doing the amount of bodywork that comes with SM.

Yep, that’s good that they are separate. As I say, no fun to be in the scrum.
